I’m a fan of the author’s Unexpected series, so when All of You All of Me caught my attention, I was excited to read it. I already knew she had a talent for writing about broken characters. But I must say that this one took me even deeper into the darkness of two troubled minds. I had to put it down and walk away from it a few times before picking it back up again.

She is the older of her parent’s two daughters. She takes that responsibility seriously and cares for her younger sister, trying to shelter her from the worst. But keeping her own mind from scattering into a million pieces takes a lot of work and they end up separated. When she hits a brick wall in her circumstances, she goes back to what’s left of her family. As she struggles to get herself together and to work on her relationship with her sister, she meets him.

He’s getting by, just barely. He’s come a long way, but he hasn’t found what he’s looking for. He knows he has issues. His three older brothers are a strong support system and he’s taking things one day at a time. When he sees her, he forgets about his own problems. She becomes his focus. He wants her. He sees her darkness, but he still wants her. His brothers don’t encourage his pursuit, they see her darkness too. They are worried for him. But she’s like a magnet drawing him against his will. He can’t resist her.

Will she fix him or ruin him? Will they be able to take their broken pieces and put them together and end up whole? Will they find a way to accept each other as they are, flaws and all? Or will they run away from their heart’s desire out of fear of losing it?

Get ready for an emotional journey that will touch your heart. You might be heartbroken at times. But at other times you will smile at the sweetness. My favorite is, “Your flaws are your best feature.”

 

Claudia grew up with a childhood that resembled a caffeine-injected soap opera. She lives in Colorado, managing her household filled with three confused dogs, a techy-nerd husband, two daughters wrought with fandoms and a son who thinks he’s the boss of the house. To survive, she works continually to find purpose for the voices flitting through her head, plus she consumes high quantities of chocolate to keep the last threads of sanity intact.
