Asher Wesley doesn't do serious relationships.
Playful, charming, and downright dirty, Ash is all about having fun in his personal life while building his professional career. He’s young, successful, and not in the market to be tied down. Why look for happily ever after when he can have happy right now? And, as a general rule, he never mixes business with pleasure.
Until now.
Kara Mitchell is down on her luck, but thanks to her best friend, she's got a new job to help her get back on her feet. There’s only one problem. She didn’t count on how sexy her new boss would be. But nothing good can come from messing around with the man who signs your paychecks, so Kara resolves to stay clear of her irresistible boss. No matter the temptation, office romances are off-limits.
Of course, things are never quite that easy...
“I don’t want you to go.”
The last part of my sentence comes out with more lust in it than I intend. I’m so close to her, I’m sure she can feel the heat of my breath on her neck. I can’t seem to care.
Her head turns toward me, her body following, brushing against me since I apparently don’t have the common courtesy to allow her more room. She flicks her gaze up to mine, her hazel green eyes focusing on my blue ones. “You don’t?”
Fuck, I want to kiss her so bad right now.
But I can’t. So, I don’t.
I hold her gaze. “No. And as much as I really want you to take Kendra’s advice, I think it’s a bad idea. Working together will only complicate things even more, don’t you think?”
Please disagree with me.
Her gaze drops from my face, her focus more on my chest when she says, “Okay. You’re probably right.”
I don’t want to be right.
“It would complicate things.” Her eyes flick back up to mine. I don’t know if she’s saying it for my benefit or hers.
“It would.” My eyes flick down to her lips. Fuck, I want to taste them, suck the plump flesh in between my teeth and nibble it.
She swipes her tongue across her bottom lip and I’m a goner. Fuck willpower. Who needs it? As I lean forward, about to make a horrible—yet oh, so wonderful—decision, the phone rings, breaking the silence. I stop, my eyes not leaving hers which are still focused on mine.
“I’d better get that,” she breathes out.
“Yeah, okay.” It takes a second before I push off the door with my hand and step back, finally allowing her the room she needs to turn and open the door. But before she can get to her desk to answer the phone, I ask, “Kara, you’re not quitting, right?”
She turns her gaze towards me.
“I don’t want you to quit.” I tell her, my heart still rapidly beating.
“Then I’ll stay.” She turns and grabs the phone, greeting the caller in a calm, clear voice.
Needing a minute to myself, I close my office door again, and lean my forehead against the cool, wooden surface with a thud.
This may be harder than I thought.

Laura's rating: 5 of 5 iScream ConesWhen I read book 1 in this series I really enjoyed the author's writing style and I thought she did a great job with her debut book. Jump ahead to book 3, Asher and Ms. Smith has me hooked! I really enjoyed the first two books in this series but Asher may just be my absolute favorite to date. The author still has a way of grabbing my attention from just the first chapter and has me hanging on to every sentence. Her writing has gotten stronger and her stories flow even better with each book she puts out. Ms. Smith has definitely gotten and kept my attention.
Asher Wesley works hard and likes to play even harder. Starting his own business has been exciting and challenging. Keeping him on an even keel is his amazing assistant, Kendra. That is until she goes into labor early and he has to deal with life in the office for a week without her until her replacement arrives. Little did Asher known, his new assistant is the gorgeous brunette that he got more than an eyeful early that day. Now he finds himself at war with his heads...lol Not one to back away from a challenge, will he be able to keep his distance and remain professional for at least the three months that Kara will be working for him? I LOVE Asher! I have a thing for dirty talkers and Asher fits that bill to a "T". If he doesn't get your motor running with his sexy talk than you must be a tad dead below the waist...lol Seriously he is one smooth, gorgeous, sexy, dirty talking piece of man meat. What I wouldn't give for my hubs to talk to me like that...TMI...maybe, maybe not.
Kara Mitchell has made the move across the country for her job, only to find out a few months after transferring that she is being let go. With a decent severance package in hand, she has a little time to find another job. When her best friend offers her, her position when she goes on maternity leave, Kara jumps at the chance to work and get the opportunity to expand her resume. What she never expected was the tall drink of water that she flashed earlier that morning to be her new boss. To make matters worse her day just keeps making her look like a fool. With more embarrassment than you can shake a stick at, she nearly walks out the door and never looks back. Can she work for someone who she has such a strong attraction too or will this job end in disaster as well? Kara's character is awesome. Seriously, how many bad things can happen to one person in the same day? She had me laughing and cringing at the same time. She is a strong, confident, dependable woman and although she has had a rough start to her new job, she sticks it out.
Kara and Asher together are just smokin' hawt! The banter between them is awesome, flirty and sexy. Together they can ignite the pages of your kindle. You might need a cold shower or two after a few of the scenes. I love how protective Asher is of her and that he wants to be the one to make her smile and bring her happiness. Can these two characters build a relationship together and still remain professional during the work day or will they be so caught up in one another that the fire they create will burn them?
Once again Ms. Smith has written another sexy, flirty, story. I fell in love with the characters and I loved that we got to see more of Cade and Sloan in this book as well. All though it can be read as a standalone, I would suggest starting with book one and get to know each of the brothers in this family. Each book is a relativiley quick, enjoyable, sexy read and you will find yourself falling for the Wesley boys just like I have.

For as long as she can remember, Michelle Smith has been making up romantic stories in her head, but it wasn't until this year that she finally became brave enough to publish them.
If she's not reading or writing, you can be sure she's watching her beloved Dallas Stars somewhere, or any of the numerous other sports she likes to watch. She currently lives in Big D (that’s Dallas, Texas for those who don’t know) with her wonderful husband and children.
