Fury (Rebel Wayfarers MC, #11) by MariaLisa deMora
Fury has made a name for himself in club life as a member and officer who calls things like he sees ‘em, and not a man to put up with lies and deceit. When he takes time to think about it, he finds the reputation amusing considering the kind of guy he used to be.
As soon as he could, Gabe Ledbetter fled his family’s home in the mountains of Kentucky. Those hills and valleys were undeniably beautiful, but they masked a painful legacy of loss and betrayal. Gabe counted himself fortunate to have gotten out, his scream-filled nightmares a reminder that not everyone had been as lucky.
Gabe, now called Fury, has built a family for himself with the men he calls brothers. Over time, he worked his way from club to club, managing to climb the ladder of responsibility until in his small world he was the top dog. Big man, but one with an empty bed.
Bethany Mason-Taylor has lived her whole life in survival mode. From her first memories of a traumatic childhood, it always felt as if she were skating a mere stone’s throw ahead of disaster. Everything finally seems to be on track for success, and now that she’s put her most embarrassing fiasco behind her, managing the come-back tour for a band signed by her brother’s record label should be a breeze.
That is until one gloriously handsome redhead slipped into her hotel room and derailed all of Bethy’s carefully laid plans. She’s the forbidden fruit, sister of his MC president. He’s her ultimate weakness. Oh yeah, this is gonna be fun.

*Please note this book is part of the Rebel Wayfarers MC book series, featuring characters from additional books in the series. If the books are read out of order, you’ll twig to spoilers for the other books, so going back to read the skipped titles won’t have the same angsty reveals. I strongly recommend you read them in order. Available now: Mica (book #1), Slate (book #2), Bear (book #3), Jase (book #4), Gunny (book #5), Mason (book #6), Hoss (book #7), Duck (book #8), Watcher (book #9), Bones (book #10), and Fury (book #11). Upcoming titles in the series include: Cassie (book #12).
“I know there are a few more things I should deal with today,
but I’m beat, guys and gals.” Six faces turned and looked at Bethany. “Two more
interviews and I’m calling it, going to head to the hotel. This trip piled on
top of a few busy days back in Nashville means my bed is calling.”
“You must have been up before daybreak to get to the airport,”
Chase said, reaching over and grabbing a handful of chips. “No wonder you’re
Looking around the room, she noted the band members had all
stopped their activities. Apparently, her announcement provided the permission
they needed to switch back to lounging around, bottles of water and soft drinks
in hand. At least their nerves were eased by today’s early interviews. Benny
was an old hand at this, but the rest of the group were less polished. Bethy
glanced over at her nephew with a grin, thinking it was a good thing Mason
hadn’t told Chase about the gig ahead of time. As it was, the young man looked
wrung out. She knew if he’d had even a couple of extra days to worry and fuss,
he would be a whole other level of exhausted. She was about to offer to take
him to the hotel too when the door abruptly opened.
Bethy’s breath caught in her chest as she watched a striking
redhead walk in, complete with a full, thick beard and an attitude of owning
all the space around him. It’s just not fair, she thought, assuming he was one
of the radio promoters. Why are the good-looking ones always in out of the way
places like Lamesa?
Benny stood, hand out, evidently thinking the same thing about
the guy, but before she could move forward, Chase was hooting with laughter,
yelling, “Fury, dude. Totally didn’t expect to see you here!” He turned to her,
a delighted grin in place on his face as he introduced them, “Aunt Bethy, this
is Fury. He’s one of Dad’s trusted few in Fort Wayne.” Twisting, he held out a
hand to point at her, speaking to Fury, “This is my best Aunt Bethy. She’s the
coolest. She runs the record label for Dad, and signed Benny’s band.”
Standing slowly, she took the look Fury was giving her,
half-appraising and half-aggravated. She held out her hand to shake, and when
he wrapped his fingers around hers, she felt a zinging awareness of him zip
through her and watched his eyes widen and then develop a laser intensity as he
studied her. Shoulders rising and falling as he pulled in a deep breath, he
reintroduced himself, “Fury. Otherwise known as your escort while in town.”
With a nod, she responded, “Bethany Mason-Taylor, otherwise
known as the awesome Aunt Bethy.”
He smiled at her, white teeth flashing in the midst of that
dark red beard and she found herself smiling back at him. Damn.

"Life's better when lived in the light."
These Rebels have worked their way into my heart and every new book in the series just makes the family bigger and stronger. Yes, there is heartache involved. It's not all rainbows and unicorns. It's gritty and painful and deep and beautiful. The author never fails to put my emotions through the wringer, but I always come out the other side glad that I took the journey, good or bad. The experience always stays with me beyond the last page of the book. That's why I keep coming back for more.
Yes, I know the book is titled Fury, but for me it's Bethany that I bonded with. She's Mason's baby sister. She's been through hell, but she survived. She went through the flames, coming out damaged but stronger. Surprisingly, despite how badly she's been treated, she still has a big heart. She loves hard and puts others before herself. She keeps her friends close and her secrets closer. She's strong and determined. She learns from her mistakes and tries not to repeat them. Unless they are a tall sexy redhead, then she might not be strong enough to resist doing him again...
When Gabe went looking for Bethany, he didn't realize who she was, until he saw her. They shared a past that he hoped she wouldn't remember. He knew it would be a bad idea to follow through on his plans, but he thought he didn't have a choice. He made many mistakes that he later regretted. However, the time he spent with Bethany was not one of them. When he walked away from her, he never intended to see her again. But when he did...he still wanted her. Unfortunately, he discovers that she's the baby sister of his club president. He's worked so hard to move up the ranks of the club, earning the trust of his brothers. He tries to keep his eyes on the prize. He would do almost anything for them, but would he give her up a 2nd time?
It was so wonderful to catch up with some of my favorite characters. Rebel Wayfarers MC is one of my all-time favorite MC Romance series, and that's saying a lot since I've read over 300 of them. Yeah, I admit it, I'm addicted to badass bikers. But now I'm addicted to MariaLisa deMora too. She enticed me with her bikers, but she kept me with her writing skill. I get excited when she releases a new book, regardless of genre. I'm thrilled to report that this is not the end of the series, there are still a few knots that need to be untied, and a few characters that I need to spend some more time with. I can't wait. The line forms here...

Raised in the south, MariaLisa learned about the magic of books at an early age. Every summer, she would spend hours in the local library, devouring books of every genre. Self-described as a book-a-holic, she says “I’ve always loved to read, but then I discovered writing, and found I adored that, too. For reading … if nothing else is available, I’ve been known to read the back of the cereal box.”
A hockey fan, hiker, gamer, and single mom of a special needs son, she embraces her inner geek and has been working in the tech field for a publishing company for a couple decades.
Music is a driving passion, and she says, “I love music of nearly any genre — jazz, country, rock, alt rock, metal, classical, bluegrass, rap, hip hop … you name it, I listen to it. I can often be seen dancing through the house in the early mornings. But I really, REALLY love live music. My favorite thing with music is seeing bands in small, dive bars
[read: small, intimate venues]. If said bar [venue] has a good selection of premium tequila, then that’s a plus!”
