It started with a window that was jammed shut. Pretty simple, right? All I wanted was to open the windows while I tidied the house. I’d been after my no-good husband to do it for months, but he never did. And then he shacked up with his secretary, leaving me with a pile of bills, husband-free for the first time in ten years, and with a house that was falling apart.
The ad popped up on the side of my social media feed—a local contracting agency willing to do pretty much anything. Since I don’t really know a screwdriver from a ratchet, I gave them a call.
And let me tell you, the ad was NOT lying. Jesse O’Neill can do it ALL…and looks amazing doing it.
He fixed my window, so I called him back to fix the sagging, splintery front steps. Which led to him fixing my kitchen sink. And then he recarpeted my stairs. And then fixed the squeak in my bed.
He was supposed to fix my house, not my rusty, sputtering libido. And certainly not my broken heart.

“Evenin’, m’am. Estimates are free, but staring ain’t.”
Hot damn! Unfortunately, there’s no Dad Bod Contracting in my area. Go ahead, ask me how I know that. If there had been, I’d have found something for them to fix just so I could watch; I could “honey-do” all day. Yeah, that’s right, I said ‘they’. I guess being #HOT is a condition of employment because…they are. 🔨
The synopsis doesn’t disclose her identity, but the story is actually told from her POV. Let me tell you, being inside her head when she gets her first glimpse of Jesse is priceless. “If you take pure, raw, unfiltered male sexuality and boil it down to its essence, and then infuse that with things like smoldering eyes, rugged good looks, and a piercing stare, you’d have a general approximation of the man who stood in my doorway. HOLY SHIT. And then it just gets better from there. 🔧
After being cheated on by her ex, her self-esteem takes a dive, leaving her feeling unattractive and lacking. Feeling Jesse’s eyes on her was satisfying, but seeing the fire in Jesse’s eyes as he watched her took heat to the next level. Being hot was her reason for calling him, because she had no air conditioning and the window was stuck closed. She needed some air to circulate through the house to get some relief. But with Jesse in it, there wasn’t enough air in the room. And as for relief, well, that’s another topic I’ll leave you to ponder. “This guy shows up and suddenly trouble is spelled J-E-S-S-E.”
Wait until you meet the colorful support characters in this tale, you’ll fall in love with them just like I did. The author gave me just enough of a sneak peek to have me bouncing with excitement for more. The anticipation is going to kill me, but the possibilities are delicious and varied. I really enjoyed Hammered and can’t wait to get Drilled. You know I meant the book, right? Well, that too. 😉 The line forms here…
