Can we just take a moment to appreciate that cover? Sigh. Drool. Okay, now let’s talk about this story. I loved it. Though, I must confess that even though the author warned me in the synopsis that Jack has a tendency to run from his problems, I still found myself frustrated with him. Yes, he got an earful from me on more than one occasion, but he did eventually win me over.

Rex had me from the get-go. I fell for him immediately and never wavered in my feelings for him. I can’t resist broken characters and after going through hell with him he earned my loyalty. I yearned for him to find a man that deserved him and was worthy of the love he had to give. I wasn’t so sure that ‘city boy’ fit that description, especially when he pissed me and Rex off repeatedly. But, I was invested and kept turning those pages with my crossed finger.

I’ve been a Nicole Edwards fan for years and she never fails to impress me with her ability to touch my emotions with her stories. I feel the friend and family support strongly in this series and really enjoy the amazing support characters. I’m especially excited about where she’s going next after reading this one. Rex’s painful past revealed secrets and sorrow that has me beside myself to dig deeper in the next installment. And while I’m at it, I must confess I can’t wait to see what that cover will look like.
