This is the first book that I have read by V.F. Mason and I am glad I got the chance to read and review a new-to-me author’s work. Shane’s Truth is a relatively quick, fun, sexy read and I enjoyed the characters and the premise of the story.

Shane has the chance to make it to the NFL but decides to track his father down. Finding himself in Moonlight Rose, Texas, his unexpected visit creates an uproar. Now a year later he spends his days helping to run the ranch that his father owns. The chance at an NFL career is in his rearview. I have to say I loved Shane’s character. Who wouldn’t love a football star turned cowboy. Made me swoon a little and when he talks, wow…totally pantie melter. His character is a bit alpha and I loved his dirty mouth. The one thing that drove me a little crazy was his insta-love for Serena and how possessive he was of her in such a short amount of time. I would have liked to have seen more of a build up between them, more sexual tension. There is no doubt that the two of them have chemistry. But when the truth comes out as to why Serena is really at the ranch, will Shane, and his, will-not-tolerate-lying attitude be able to handle the fallout or will he have to much invested in the one girl who literally rocks his world, to care?

Serena is at a crossroads. She has just upset one of the most important people in her father’s life and now she must face the consequences. Born into a family of status, wealth, and power has been a benefit to her for many years until she lost the one person who mattered most to her, her mother. Now, Serena wants to live her life on her own terms and pursue a career in fashion. If only she could do as her father wants and not as she sees fit. She now finds herself working as a housekeeper for an old college friend of her fathers. For once she will learn what it is like to have to work hard to earn your paycheck and she will see first hand at how the other half lives. Will Serena be able to handle the change in her social status and be able to reinvent herself to appease not just her father, but the people that she has to work for or will she fall flat on her face?

I really did enjoy Serena and Shane’s story. I would have liked to have had more back story as to why Serena ended up in the predicament that she was in. I had a hard time swallowing the insta-love that she and Shane had for one another and his possessive side was crazy! Declaring her his after one encounter seemed a bit much for me. But, overall the story was good. The characters were engaging and I was sucked in from the first few chapters. I loved all the secondary characters and hope to see another book about Ren, Maggie, Grady or hell, even Becky.

V.F.Mason always loved reading books and had quite a few fights with her mama over the genre she liked (romance, duh!) She studied filmmaking and thought that would feed her desire for stories, but that didn’t happen.

Finally, when she was tired of all those voices in her head, she sat down and wrote a book. It was a huge decision to make and she thanks her friends and family for supporting her in it.

When she is not writing, she can be found with her friends doing all sorts of crazy things or reading recent romance books that were written by her favorite authors.
