Author: Sawyer Bennett

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: January 1, 2019

He never wanted to be anyone’s hero…

Asher Knight is tall, dark, and wickedly handsome. He’s also irrevocably broken. Submerging himself in long hours at work by day and debauchery at The Wicked Horse by night, Asher uses work and play to numb the pain and guilt he feels over the death of his wife. What isn’t satisfied with one will surely be resolved by the other. At least that’s how he’s survived the last few years.

Hannah Madigan works three jobs just to make ends meet. Beat down by life, not to mention a cheating husband who was unfairly awarded custody of their daughter, Hannah is determined to make a better life for herself and get her kid back. But with pressures mounting and one costly mistake that leaves her owing Asher a huge debt, Hannah is as close as she’s ever come to throwing in the towel.

She’s given a golden opportunity…

Determined to stay the course by any means necessary, Hannah accepts an unusual proposal from Asher. He’ll give her a job. She’ll give him her body. Sounds easy, right? Until she realizes she needs his help more than she’s willing to admit. And he finds her adding to his life in ways he never wanted to accept.

This wicked knight may just learn that sometimes saving someone else means allowing yourself to be saved in return.

“It’s not fair that he’s just my type. Bossy, alpha, and determined. Add on the almost midnight-black hair, light hazel eyes, and what’s clearly an impressive physique under that expensive silk suit he was wearing, and it took all my willpower to be affronted by his offer.”

If you’ve been reading this series you know that Wicked Horse is a Vegas sex club. So, of course, I was expecting some very hot sex scenes to steam up my Kindle. But I got much more than that. Wicked Knight pulled my heartstrings as well.

Hannah’s dire situation had me in her corner from the beginning. It was so unfair and cruel of her ex who not only cheated in their marriage but cheated her out of their child as well. She’s working her fingers to the bone to pay child support and legal fees to try to get her daughter back. As if working three jobs was not enough pressure she’s accidentally indebted herself to Asher Knight.

Asher is no knight in shining armor, he’s a businessman who knows how to get what he wants, and what he wants is her. Not a relationship, just sex. He uses Hannah’s desperation to back her into a corner knowing that even though she can say no, she won’t. “And I could say ‘no’ if I wanted. He also implied he could get me wet from words alone. That’s not a bet I’m willing to make with him, because he pretty much did when he started whispering in my ear in his office.”

I had no doubt that Asher had the skills to back up his promises. But it was his heart that I was worried about. He’d closed it off years ago and was determined to seek only physical pleasure going forward. That didn’t line up with my fairytale image of him with Hannah and her daughter. So, I was working behind the scenes sprinkling happily-every-after dust on them.

I was interested in a different kind of magic for the ex-husband, more of the voodoo doll variety. I wanted to poke that prick from sunup to sundown. And I’d probably have to wait in line. You’d think that Hannah would be hardened by her rough life, but her family kept her heart soft. But that doesn’t mean she wasn’t badass. She’d had to fight hard to survive and she had the sass to back it up. I loved her snark and the banter between her and Asher. I kept thinking to myself, ‘good luck denying how she makes you feel buddy’. I can read between the lines.

The author delivered a very emotional story that had me totally invested. She’s been on auto-click status with me for a long time and I get excited about every new release. I’m ready for wherever she takes me next. The line forms here…
